Dear Friend,
Maybe you found your way here because you're exhausted.
Maybe you're carrying more than anyone realizes.
Maybe you've been holding it together for so long that you've forgotten what it feels like to truly rest.
Or maybe you simply feel stuck.
Not stuck in a dramatic way. Just stuck.
Stuck between who you used to be and who you're becoming. Stuck between where you are and where you hoped you would be by now. Stuck between wanting things to change and not knowing where to begin.
If that's you, I want you to know something: you are not alone.
It's Okay If This Season Feels Hard
One of the biggest lies we tell ourselves is that we should be handling things better. That because we're capable, responsible, strong, or successful, we shouldn't struggle.
But being strong doesn't mean you never get tired. Being capable doesn't mean you always know what to do. And being a good person doesn't mean life won't sometimes feel overwhelming.
Many people sit across from me believing they should have everything figured out by now. Yet the truth is that most people are carrying questions they don't know how to answer:
- Am I doing enough?
- Why do I feel so overwhelmed?
- When will things get easier?
- Why am I so anxious all the time?
- Have I somehow lost myself along the way?
If you've asked those questions, you're in good company.
You Don't Have to Earn Rest
Somewhere along the way, many of us learned that rest is something we earn. After the work is done. After everyone else is taken care of. After the to-do list is complete. After we've proven ourselves.
The problem is that the finish line keeps moving. There is always another responsibility, another task, another expectation, another reason to postpone caring for ourselves.
But you do not have to earn the right to rest. You do not have to prove your worth through productivity. You are allowed to pause. You are allowed to breathe. You are allowed to need support.
Growth Often Feels Like Uncertainty
If you're in a season of transition, you may feel frustrated by the lack of clarity. You want answers. You want certainty. You want a clear plan.
But growth rarely arrives that way. More often, growth looks like taking the next small step without knowing exactly where the path will lead. It looks like trusting yourself before you feel fully confident. It looks like continuing forward even when the future feels unclear.
You may not have all the answers today. And that's okay. Most meaningful growth happens one step at a time.
You Are Allowed to Take Up Space
You do not have to shrink yourself to make others comfortable. You do not have to carry everyone's problems. You do not have to say yes to everything. You do not have to be everything to everyone.
Your needs matter. Your feelings matter. Your story matters.
And the parts of you that feel tired, uncertain, anxious, or overwhelmed deserve compassion — not criticism.
Healing Is Not Becoming Someone New
Many people begin counseling hoping to become a different person. Less anxious. More confident. More productive. More organized. More successful.
But what I've found is that healing is often less about becoming someone new and more about returning to who you've always been beneath the pressure, expectations, and self-doubt.
The goal isn't perfection. The goal is wholeness. The goal is learning to trust yourself again. The goal is creating a life that feels aligned with your values rather than driven by fear.
If You're Struggling Right Now
I hope you'll remember this:
- You do not need to have everything figured out.
- You do not need a perfect plan.
- You do not need to be further along.
- You do not need to carry it all alone.
Sometimes the bravest thing we can do is acknowledge that we're struggling and allow someone to walk alongside us. There is strength in asking for help. There is courage in choosing growth. And there is hope, even when the path ahead feels uncertain.
A Final Thought
If no one has told you lately: you are doing better than you think. You have survived difficult seasons before. You are capable of navigating this one, too.
And even if you don't feel strong today, you do not have to face this season by yourself.
With compassion,
Kayleigh
